They think its all over….. it is now!

Well what a fantastic year for PE and Sport at Hadrian this academic year. It all started back in September with our Year 6’s attending the Wanderers Athletics competition and ended up winning the Under 11’s Girls category. Well done indeed!

Then it was the turn of our Year 2 and Year 4 pupils who took part in a 2 km cross country run – all showcasing their hard work and determination to finish the course.

We then had our Year 2 and 3 groups head over to Walker Dome for some multi sports action. They all did get in the zone at the Walker Dome! Well done guys!

It was the return of our Year 6’s who showcased their football skills at the Wanderers 5 a side football tournament. Special mention must go to Yamin who was top scorer for our combined team.

The Year 6 boys took centre stage for a spot of Tennis in Sunderland. They all showcased excellent striking and balancing skills to finish in 3rd place and earn a bronze medal –  watch out Andy Murray!

All of the classes across school then took part in Sports Relief day 2018. There was lots of activities that took place across school with each pupil coming into school in their sports kit. We raised a grand total of £84.50 – thanks to everyone that donated.

Our Year 4 group then took over the mantle of fantastic footballers with another Wanderers football tournament. Special mention must go to Zoiya who was our player of the tournament for never giving up.

Then it was over to our Year 5’s who took part in a Badminton skills challenge at Sir John Spence school. They had to showcase lots of different skills as well as teamwork and they did fantastically well.

We then headed over for a splash with our Year 6’s who took part in the Wanderers swimming gala at Jarrow pool. They showcased lots of swimming skills and received a medal for their efforts.

As a school we then hosted the Wanderers sensory circuits festival in our new Rebound Therapy Centre. We had pupils from Hexham Priory, Keelmans Way and Woodlawn schools along with our own boys and girls who had a relaxed and enjoyable morning of sensory circuit activities.

Our Year 5’s then took centre stage for the Wanderers Rounders competition. They did fantastically well against older boys and girls – winning a game along the way!

To round off the Year the whole school joined in for sports day accessing relay races, penalty shoot outs, sensory circuits, bean bag toss and other games. It was pleasure to see all the pupils having fun and enjoying their PE and sport across the day.

And finally our Year 1’s completed an action packed PE and Sport year with a multi sports festival at Walker Dome. They had lots of fun and really enjoyed the games.

A huge thank you to everyone that has helped with sports days, organising events and promoting PE and sport across school. It has been a tremendous year and we look forward to the next…..

Many Thanks

Hadrian Sports Team.
